What does the role of a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in a publicly traded FinTech company look like?

We have interviewed Multitude’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Kornel Kabele, leading a team of 200+ IT professionals. He has over 17 years of experience in the banking industry and extensive experience in software development and project management. He joined the company in 2017 as Head of Java Development and since 2018 has been the company’s technology lead and leads passionately.

Enabling the Vision with Modern Technology: “Over the past five years, Multitude has undertaken a radical modernisation of its technology landscape. We have developed new digital channels, including angular-based web and native mobile applications. These interfaces seamlessly communicate with over 400 microservices running on a cloud-native platform powered by Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Camunda. Additionally, we have replaced our old core banking system with a modular and easily extensible one. By implementing fully automated CI/CD pipelines, we ensure efficient testing and change deployment. Our technology stack comprises various programming languages and both SQL and NoSQL databases, allowing us to adapt and innovate rapidly.”

“Do not stop learning, it is key to your success” In today’s technological landscape, learning is the most critical competency for achieving success in IT. Traditional career paths have given way to a dynamic enviro where adaptability and the ability to learn new concepts and problem-solving approaches are paramount. Technologies such as machine learning (ML), cloud computing, and low-code/no-code platforms play a pivotal role in the FinTech space. ML enables us to enhance credit risk scoring, automate testing, analyse security threats, and deploy customer support chatbots. Cloud computing, particularly the shift towards hybrid cloud, ensures scalability, agility, and cost-efficiency. Furthermore, embracing low-code/no-code technologies accelerates time to market, enhances predictability, and reduces development costs.
